Political consultations between Turkmenistan and Georgia were held in Tbilisi

On July 17, 2017, a regular round of political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan and Georgia at the level of ministers was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

On the same day, the delegation of Turkmenistan met with the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Minister of Energy of Georgia Ilia Eloshvili.

During the consultations and meetings, the parties analyzed the current state and prospective directions for the further development of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Special attention was paid to the energy and transport issues.

The sides also noted the active dynamics of bilateral cooperation in the fields of sport, science, culture, education and tourism. The Georgian side stressed that the holding of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will take place in Ashgabat on September 17-27, 2017, will further strengthen friendship and cooperation between the countries, promote sport and healthy lifestyle.

Noting that in 2017 there will be the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the parties made a number of proposals for holding cultural events in honor of this event.

The sides stressed the importance of holding regular political consultations and noted that due to their mutual efforts Turkmen-Georgian relations are aimed at a consistent and dynamic development and access to new forms of cooperation in various directions.
