On March 2, 2017 a grand conference was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan devoted to the 25th anniversary of the accession of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Organization named "Turkmenistan - UN: strategic partnership based on the principles of mutual respect in the name of peace and security."
The conference was attended by the heads of the Mejlis, ministries and departments, heads of diplomatic missions and representations of international organizations working in Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan's diplomatic service employees, teachers and students of higher educational institutions, as well as representatives of public organizations of Turkmenistan.
In the foyer of the Institute an exhibition was organized that introduced the history of the relations between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, various joint projects carried out over the years, as well as the achievements of Turkmenistan in the years of independence.
At the beginning of the conference a congratulatory Address of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the participants of the conference was read. It had highlighted the joint efforts of Turkmenistan and the United Nations to address the pressing issues of our time in the name of universal peace, security and sustainable development, which are widely supported by the international community.
Great interest was aroused by the statements of the foreign diplomats - leaders accredited to our country offices of international organizations, which highly appreciated Turkmenistan's position, fully using its political, economic and cultural potential in the interests of global peace and sustainable development.
The speakers congratulated the leadership and the people of Turkmenistan on the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's accession to the United Nations and the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on the annual celebration of the December 12 as International Day of Neutrality. In this regard, it has been given an objective assessment of the multifaceted impact of Turkmen neutrality in the global integration processes, with a vision of new approaches to address common challenges in the light of foreign policy, peace-building initiatives of Turkmenistan.
At the end of the conference participants adopted a thank Appeal to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Then a gala concert prepared by student groups of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan was presented to the participants of the conference.
