Turkmen-Kyrgyz political consultations in Ashgabat

On March 23, 2017, another round of Turkmen-Kyrgyz political consultations at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers took place between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries in Ashgabat.

During consultations the parties analyzed the current state and perspective directions of the further development of bilateral ties in the political, trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The sides emphasized with satisfaction the effective development of mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as they also expressed the opinion that the holding of the regular political consultations is one of the important mechanisms that contributes to the promotion of the Turkmen-Kyrgyz all-around partnership. At the same time, the political dialogue successfully developed by both countries at a high level, remains as basis for interaction, as well as between ministries and institutions of both states.

During the meeting the parties paid attention to the issues of regional security, cooperation in water, energy, transport, logistics and aviation fields. They also discussed issues of developing trade-economic relations using the potential of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Noting that this year marks 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the parties put forward a number of proposals for cultural activities in honor of the event.

At the end of the meeting, the Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude for Turkmenistan's active contribution to the World Nomadic Games held in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2016 and informed about directing of the major sports delegation of Kyrgyzstan to the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat on 17-27 September 2017.
