From 22 to 24 April 2024, the delegation of Turkmenistan led by the Minister of Finance and Economy S.Joraev took part in the ECOSOC Forum on Follow-up on Financing for Development (FfD Forum).
In accordance with the program of the visit, on April 23, 2024, the Minister, speaking at the plenary meeting of the Forum, noted the active practical activities of Turkmenistan in the implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Program on Financing for Development.
Then the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in a panel discussion of the Forum on the topic “Mobilization of internal government resources”. Speaking during the discussions, the Minister emphasized that in order to successfully achieve global goals and objectives, it is necessary to continue multilateral partnership and cooperation.
On the same day, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, a side event “High-level Dialogue on Transport and Energy Connectivity to Expand Financing for Development: UN Decade of Sustainable Transport 2026-2035, Ashgabat Platform for Energy Connectivity” was held.
The dialogue was attended by Ivana Zivkovic, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, Sandagdorj Erdenebileg, UN Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, Representatives of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Heads of National Delegations to the Financing for Development Forum, Permanent Representatives and Experts of States -members of the UN.
As a result of the High-Level Dialogue, the participants approved the Final Document summarizing the results of the discussion.
