Presentation of a collection of poems by Magtymguly Fragi in Georgian took place in Tbilisi

On September 12, 2024, a presentation of a collection of poems by the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi in Georgian was held in Tbilisi, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

The presentation was attended by representatives of the Parliament, a number of key ministries and departments of Georgia, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Georgia, as well as representatives of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, the Georgian National Center of Manuscripts, the Creative Union of Writers of Georgia, rectors, faculty of the country's universities and representatives of the media.

A Turkmen delegation, including representatives of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and figures of art and culture, arrived in Tbilisi to participate in this event.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia L.Darsalia spoke at the event. He congratulated Turkmenistan on the upcoming Independence Day and noted that Turkmenistan and Georgia are united by traditionally friendly and fraternal relations built on the basis of mutual respect, equality and openness. It was also noted that the dynamic development of Turkmen-Georgian relations is based on regular political dialogue.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia D.Seyitmammedov particularly emphasized that a strategically important direction of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, successfully implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, is active assistance in promoting positive international dialogue in the name of universal peace and stability, and the development of constructive cooperation at the regional and global levels.

He also noted that the translation of Magtymguly’s poems into Georgian is another striking example of friendship, brotherhood and close cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia.

The Chairperson of the Creative Union of Writers of Georgia, Makvala Gonashvili, who worked on translating poetry, noted that it was a great honor for her to work on translating the poems of the great son of the Turkmen people, whose creative heritage has become an integral part of the world's spiritual treasury.

Rector of the Georgian Technical University D.Gurgenidze emphasized that the works of Magtymguly Fragi are known and appreciated all over the world. He also added that this book in Georgian will help Georgian poetry lovers to discover the depth and uniqueness of the poet's talent.

The speakers noted the important role of representatives of the creative intelligentsia in strengthening cultural ties between peoples, as well as preserving the cultural heritage, ancient values and national art of the two countries.

During the event, Turkmen and Georgian folk songs were performed, and guests were offered Turkmen national dishes.
