Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States held events to celebrate 30th anniversary of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan and expand academic cooperation

On April 28-29, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States conducted a series of official meetings and events across Montana and Wyoming to explore opportunities for academic cooperation and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan.

During the visit, Consul Sh.Pirmuhammedov met with the leadership of Montana State University Billings (MSUB), Northwest College in Wyoming, and the University of Wyoming to discuss potential partnerships between these institutions and higher education institutions of Turkmenistan. Productive meetings were held with Chancellor Dr. Stefani Hicswa of MSUB, President Lisa Watson of Northwest College, and Director of International Students and Scholars Ms. Jill Johnson of the University of Wyoming.

The discussion focused on academic programs in business, finance and banking, nursing and medicine, English language and literature, early childhood education, agriculture, equine studies, energy, and other fields. Both sides expressed strong interest in developing bilateral academic exchanges, scholarships, and research collaborations.

As part of the visit, the Embassy organized presentations at MSUB and Northwest College on “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan: 30 Years of Peace and Diplomacy”. The presentations, conducted by Consul Sh.Pirmuhammedov, highlighted Turkmenistan’s unique foreign policy model, its international recognition by the United Nations, and its role in promoting peace and cooperation through multilateral diplomacy. The events gathered leadership, professors and students of these educational institutions. 

The presentations were followed by active question and answer sessions, during which participants engaged in meaningful discussions on neutrality, regional diplomacy and relations between Turkmenistan and the United States.

Consul Sh.Pirmuhammedov also met with Turkmen students studying at MSUB and NWC.
