

On January 27, 2026, a regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization took place in Tehran.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the tasks outlined in the document "Awaza Programme of Action for 2024-2034."
In particular, the Organization proposed a project for the implementation of the third priority direction of the Programme – "Transit, Transport, and Connectivity" in the ECO region. This proposal, as well as the organization of meetings for its implementation, was supported by the Council.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Permanent Representative to the ECO, Y.Gayypov, expressed gratitude to the ECO Secretariat and the representatives of the member states for supporting this initiative and expressed confidence that all parties would actively participate in its implementation.
In addition, the Organization provided an overview of the work already completed on the topic "Awaza Programme of Action for 2024-2034 and the ECO Region" within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, as well as planned steps for the future.
Earlier, at the proposal of the Turkmen side, the third priority direction, titled "Transit, Transport, and Connectivity" of the Awaza Programme of Action, was reflected in the draft document "Strategic Goals of Economic Cooperation - 2035" of the ECO, which is expected to be adopted in the near future.
Furthermore, a section titled "AWAZA Programme of Action 2024-2034 and the ECO Region" has been created on the official ECO website.
