

On 9 March 2026, the official inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro, was held at the Assembly of the Republic in Lisbon.
The solemn event was attended by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Portuguese Republic (with residence in Paris), M.Charyev.
The inauguration ceremony took place in the plenary hall of the Assembly of the Republic with the participation of senior officials of Portugal, members of the Government, deputies of the Parliament, as well as high-level foreign delegations.
Later that day, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan took part in the official reception held at the National Palace of Ajuda, where he had the opportunity to greet the newly inaugurated Head of State and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
During a brief conversation, Ambassador M.Charyev conveyed, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, congratulations to António José Seguro on his victory in the presidential elections and extended best wishes on the occasion of assuming the highest state office.
In turn, the President of Portugal, expressing his gratitude for the words of support, noted his interest in visiting Turkmenistan in the future.
