On January 10, 2017 at the "Diaoyutai" State Guesthouse in Beijing there was a solemn event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the five Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
The event was organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) in collaboration with the Chinese Society of friendship with the countries of Central Asia.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Luo Fuhe, Chairman of CPAFFC Li Xiaolin, Assistant Chinese Foreign Minister Li Hueylay, heads and staff of the diplomatic missions of the Central Asian countries in Beijing, representatives of public and state structures of China as well as media representatives.
A welcoming speech was delivered by the Vice Chairman of CPPCC Luo Fuhe, who made a brief excursion into the modern history of China's relations with the countries of Central Asia and spoke about the achievements of the last twenty-five years. According to him, China's total trade with the Central Asian countries has increased 60-fold in 25 years - from 500 million dollars to 30 billion dollars.
Congratulatory speeches were made by the Ambassadors of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. They spoke about the achievements in bilateral cooperation with China and expressed readiness to make every effort to further expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China.
The commemorative envelopes dedicated to the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the five Central Asian countries were presented to the participants at the ceremony.
