A round table was organized in New York on the theme “The Heritage of the Great Silk Road”

On June 19, 2019, a round table was organized at the National Club of Art in New York on the theme “The heritage of the Great Silk Road and its historical role in shaping the worldview of the young generation”.

Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN A.Ataeva, President of the Russian-American Cultural Foundation M. Kovalev, Director of the Asian Cultural Program, Curator of Ethnology of Asia, Europe and the Middle East of the Smithsonian Institution Paul Michael Taylor, an investor and collector of Central Asian art Barbara Kosh, Director of the Museum of Bukhara-Jewish Art Aron Aronov, representatives of the Consulates of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

P. Taylor spoke about the cooperation of the Smithsonian Institution with Turkmenistan, held during the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Washington and visiting Turkmenistan. He presented the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations with a book of works by the great Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli in English.

The opening of the joint exhibition “Central Asia: a treasury”, prepared by the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN, the Consulates of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in New York, together with the Russian-American Cultural Foundation, was also held.

The exhibits of the Turkmen part of the exhibition were especially noted. The exhibition featured hand-made carpets, national clothes and samples of silk embroidery, silver jewelry, musical instruments and paintings by Turkmen artists.
