In a letter addressed to the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev informs that all member states of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States unanimously supported granting Turkmenistan an observer status in the Council.
“I share your view that mutual ties acquire special importance at the present time, including within the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, which is currently chaired by Azerbaijan. The Turkic Council has turned into a significant organization promoting unity and joint fruitful activity between Turkic-speaking peoples and countries with common roots, history and national-cultural values.
In this connection, we are very pleased with the decision of Turkmenistan to obtain observer status in this organization. Azerbaijan, as the chairing country, has sent you request to the member states of the Council. I would like to note with great satisfaction that all member states unanimously supported granting Turkmenistan an observer status in the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States,” the message says.
