Official visit of the Governmental delegation of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Moldova

On May 15-16, 2017 an official visit of the Governmental delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov to the Republic of Moldova was held.

On May 15, the delegation of Turkmenistan had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, I. Dodon. During the meeting, the state and prospects of the development of relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Moldova in the political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed. The President of Moldova, while acknowledging the progressive dynamics of the interstate dialogue, stressed the constructive nature of the interaction between Turkmenistan and Moldova.

On the same day, the delegations of Turkmenistan and Moldova held political consultation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan side was headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister Lilian Darie. During the consultations the issues of development and strengthening of relations between Turkmenistan and Moldova over the whole range of cooperation were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the issues of interaction within authoritative international organizations and structures. During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on a number of topical issues of regional and international policy of mutual interest.

On May 16, a delegation of Turkmenistan traveled to the burial site of the outstanding Turkmen writer Nurmyrat Sarykhanov, which is located in the village of Delacau, Novoanensky district of the Republic of Moldova.

Here, the solemn opening ceremony of the Memorial was held for soldiers who died for the liberation of Moldova during the Patriotic War against fascism. The opening ceremony of the Memorial was attended by the President of the Republic of Moldova I.Dodon, members of the Government of Moldova, representatives of the Foreign Ministry and other honored guests.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his deep gratitude to the Moldovan side for paying so close attention to the memory of the fallen soldiers during the Patriotic War for the liberation of Moldova. On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the delegation of Turkmenistan laid a wreath and flowers at the monument.

On May 16, in the village of Cișmichioi, Vulcanesti district of Gagauzia, the Republic of Moldova, with the participation of the delegation of Turkmenistan, a solemn ceremony of opening the kindergarten "Dostluk", built by the Turkmen side and handed over to the people of Gagauzia by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

 The opening ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of Moldova I.Dodon, Bashkan (Governer) of Gagauzia I.Vlah, Government delegation of Turkmenistan, members of the Government of Moldova, honorary guests, public and students of schools in Gagauzia.

President of Moldova I.Dodon expressed to the Turkmen side and personally to the President of Turkmenistan G. Berdimuhamedov the words of special gratitude for the support and assistance rendered to the children of the Republic of Moldova for their happy future. The head of Gagauzia I.Vlah also expressed her sincere gratitude from herself and the people of Gagauzia to the President of Turkmenistan for gift to the children of Gagauzia, the kindergarten "Dostluk".

A joint concert of the masters of arts of Turkmenistan and Moldova was a real decoration of the solemn opening ceremony of the kindergarten on this memorable day.
