On December 2, 2021, at the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the regular, fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation was held in the online format.
The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of leading ministries, sectoral agencies and business circles of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
The participants exchanged views on the implementation of intergovernmental agreements, as well as on priority areas of cooperation between the two countries.
As emphasized, the official visit by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to Turkmenistan in June this year, during which a package of important intergovernmental agreements and other documents was signed, gave new impetus to the multifaceted dialogue.
As part of the meeting, the sides discussed specific steps to facilitate the diversification of partnership in the trade and economic sphere. In this context, the sides noted the need for additional measures aimed at increasing export-import operations, building ties in the field of investment, as well as establishing direct contacts between the economic entities of both states.
The parties also expressed interest in strengthening contacts in industry, transport, agriculture, as well as in the fuel and energy sector. The Turkmen side suggested considering the possibility of using the capacities of Turkmenbashi International Seaport for cargo transportation in the East-West-East direction.
In addition, cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, sports and tourism and youth policy were discussed.
Members of the Commission stressed the need for regular bilateral meetings, consultations and negotiations aimed at further strengthening the constructive dialogue in the interests of the two countries and brotherly peoples.
At the end of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation the relevant protocol was signed.
