On December 8-9, 2021, the delegation of the Russian Federation headed by the Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin is on a working visit in Turkmenistan.
Today, on the 9th of August, I.Babushkin was received by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During the meeting a broad range of issues of the bilateral agenda of Turkmen-Russian interaction was discussed.
Within the framework of the visit to Ashgabat the Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin had a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
In the course of the constructive talk, the regular character of the meetings was stated. As is known, cooperation of Turkmenistan with the regions of the Russian Federation is one of the important mechanisms of bilateral collaboration. The current meeting also gave an opportunity to discuss present conditions and prospects of political-economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation.
In this connection, the significance of joint work in the frame of Turkmen-Astrakhan Entrepreneurship Council was singled out. Besides that, the perspective of the cooperation in the spheres of trade, construction, ship-building and marine logistics was noted.
The positive dynamics of bilateral trade turnover and the volume of the traffic and other economic indicators were also highlighted. The sides underlined effectiveness of inter-port communication of the regions of the two countries.
In this context, the fruitfulness of the partnership of the Turkmen side with the economic actors of the Astrakhan region, in particular, with the OJSC “Pervomaisky Shipyard” for the repair of dry cargo ships and oil tankers was stated.
The parties also underlined the need of further development of contacts in the field of science, education, culture, health service, sports and other spheres having vast potential for joint implementation.
