On December 9, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
The parties noted the high level of trust in bilateral relations, reinforced by the systemic and dynamic nature of contacts at the highest level.
The Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia noted with satisfaction the content-rich meeting held today with the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
It was indicated that a special place in the development of friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Russia is given to inter-parliamentary cooperation.
In this regard, the importance of the visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Moscow at the beginning of last month, which gave impetus to the further expansion of inter-parliamentary relations, was emphasized.
The expediency of interaction through the parliaments of the two countries also in the "Central Asia - Russia" format was noted.
The Turkmen side mentioned the successful holding of the 12th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Moscow on December 7 this year, on the sidelines of which a solid package of bilateral documents was signed and a number of fruitful meetings were organized between the relevant ministries and agencies of the two countries.
Discussing the upcoming events within the framework of the Ashgabat International Week dedicated to the Day of Neutrality of Turkmenistan, the parties expressed confidence that they would serve as an effective platform for constructive dialogue in the development of peace and trust.
