Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Georgia discussed issues of bilateral cooperation

On November 15, 2017, on the sidelines of the VII Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII) in Ashgabat, a meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov with the Vice-Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze.

During the talks, speaking about active cooperation in the international arena, the sides identified important areas of relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia. In this context, an exchange of views took place on bilateral cooperation on further expansion of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, as well as in the field of transport and communications.

Speaking about the parties' interest in ensuring security, stability and sustainable development in Central Asia and Afghanistan, the sides noted the experience of Turkmenistan in these areas. The parties particularly noted the role of the Agreement on transit and transport cooperation signed during the VII Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII).

Noting the mutual desire to develop bilateral interaction in a wide range of areas, the parties agreed to intensify the existing mechanism of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two states.
