On November 16, 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission of the TRACECA, Mircea Ciopraga, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the Seventh Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII).
During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues of ensuring the development of the transport system in Central Asia. The significant role of the Seventh Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII), which is of paramount importance for the socio-economic revival of Afghanistan, was noted, as well as its connection to major regional and infrastructure projects and programs, including TRACECA.
At the end of the conversation, the sides noted that having all the necessary resources and the potential of an international standard, Turkmenistan is strengthening its role as an important intersection of the routes of the Great Silk Road.
