On December 11, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva Tatyana Valovaya.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the guest noted that it was a great honor for her to take part in events marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and, taking the opportunity, conveyed greetings from UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Having warmly welcomed the head of the UN Office in Geneva, the National Leader of the Turkmen people thanked her for her participation in the International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, conveying return greetings and best wishes to the UN Secretary-General.
Turkmenistan is contributing to strengthening peace and sustainable development in the region, said Tatyana Valovaya, assuring that, as a UN representative, she will facilitate the high-level holding of this International Forum.
Developing multifaceted cooperation with the UN is a key vector of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, noted the National Leader of the Turkmen People. As emphasized, as a neutral state, our country takes a proactive stance on issues of ensuring peace and security and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty continued by confirming Turkmenistan's readiness to continue to provide comprehensive support to the activities of the United Nations, as well as its efforts to strengthen political and diplomatic dialogue and trust in the region.
