

On December 12, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Asad Majid Khan.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the guest noted the importance of the International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, International Neutrality Day, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
Having warmly welcomed the head of the authoritative international organization to the hospitable Turkmen land, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized that Turkmenistan views this event as a high-level political event aimed at discussing important issues on the global agenda.
During the meeting, it was stated that cooperation with the ECO is one of the key areas of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, as evidenced by the positive experience of joint work accumulated over the past years.
Recalling that the first ministerial forum of the Economic Cooperation Organization on sustainable development was held in Arkadag in April of this year, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that it had made a significant contribution to the development of regional economic cooperation, the expansion of mutually beneficial relations, and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Noting that Turkmenistan supports initiatives put forward within the ECO framework and actively participates in the implementation of projects, the National Leader of the Turkmen people stated that Turkmenistan has ample opportunities for developing fruitful cooperation with the Organization's member states in such areas as trade and economic, energy, transport, environmental, tourism and culture.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people also confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness, which has rich natural gas reserves, to diversify its hydrocarbon resource exports, including expanding partnerships in this area with member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
Noting that Turkmenistan's geographically advantageous position serves as a good basis for the development of the transport and logistics system, Hero-Arkadag noted Turkmenistan's readiness to consider specific proposals from the ECO regarding participation in projects to create transport and transit corridors.
