On 7 January 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood.
During the meeting, the sides thoroughly discussed current matters of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The effectiveness of bilateral collaboration mechanisms was noted, in particular the yearly political consultations and sessions of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council.
The parties particularly emphasized the efficiency of long-standing activities of American companies in Turkmenistan and the implementation of joint business contracts in the fields of electric power, agriculture and transport, including companies such as John Deere, General Electric and Boeing.
The diplomats discussed opportunities for establishing new forms of cooperation with the focus on education, science and culture. The Turkmen side announced an initiative to establish a Turkmen-American cultural dialogue.
Exchange of views took place during the meeting on the development of cooperation in the field of high technologies, as well as in the banking and financial sector.
