

On 23 January 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received U.S. Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll, as well as the Special Envoy of the President of the United States for South and Central Asia, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of India Sergio Gor, who arrived in the country on a visit.
Thanking the Head of State for the time devoted to the meeting, the guests expressed their satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss issues related to the further development of cooperation between the United States and Turkmenistan.
Welcoming the guests, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to deepening mutually beneficial relations with the United States.
The President of Turkmenistan noted that he warmly recalls his visit to Washington in November last year to participate in the “Central Asia–United States of America” summit, as well as the meeting with President Donald Trump held on its sidelines. As was noted, this format has become an effective platform for discussing cooperation in the areas of security, economy, climate, and energy.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that relations between Turkmenistan and the United States, based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, and mutual understanding, encompass political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The interlocutors particularly noted the active political dialogue between the two countries in recent years, which enables an effective exchange of views on such global issues as ensuring sustainable development, security, and climate change.
As emphasized, one of the key areas of partnership is the trade and economic sphere. For many years, Turkmenistan has been effectively cooperating with major American companies in the implementation of important projects. In this regard, the significant contribution of the Turkmen-American Business Council to this work was noted.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, U.S. Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll, and the Special Envoy of the President of the United States for South and Central Asia, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of India Sergio Gor exchanged best wishes, expressing confidence that interstate relations based on mutual understanding and trust will continue to develop for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
