

From February 16 to 18, 2026, the Turkmenistan Film Days were held in Ankara, Türkiye, becoming a significant cultural event in the context of developing and strengthening humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and Türkiye.
The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Türkiye organized the event in cooperation with TURKSOY.
On February 16, a conference was held at the TURKSOY headquarters as part of the Days of Turkmen Cinema, dedicated to the 2026 motto - “Independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan – homeland of purposeful heavenly horses” - as well as to the 100th anniversary of the “Turkmenfilm” Association named after Oguzhan.
The event was attended by heads of Turkish state and public institutions, prominent scholars and writers, cultural and artistic figures, as well as media representatives.
In his address, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Culture, A.Shamyryadov, emphasized that the proclaimed motto of the year reflects the country’s unwavering commitment to the principles of independence and permanent neutrality, symbolizes the aspiration for new achievements, and serves as an important factor in the further development of national culture and the arts.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, A.Kakaev, highlighted the significant role of cinema in preserving historical and cultural heritage, strengthening the spiritual values of society, and promoting the rich culture of the Turkmen people on the international stage.
As part of the conference, films reflecting the history and key stages in the development of the Turkmenfilm studio were screened, along with a documentary about the activities of the national equestrian games group “Galkynyş.”
On the same day, a regular meeting of the Research Center for the Study of the Works of Magtymguly Pyragy, operating under the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Türkiye, was held.
During the meeting, the film “At-Myurat,” dedicated to the Akhal-Teke horses - one of the key symbols of Turkmenistan’s national cultural heritage - was presented.
Speakers emphasized the special importance of studying and promoting the creative heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy as a spiritual foundation of the national identity of the Turkmen people.
The central event of the Turkmenistan Film Days in Türkiye was the ceremonial screening of the feature film “The Composer,” held on February 17 at the Yaşar Kemal Cultural Center in Ankara.
The screening was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations, representatives of the Ankara municipality, as well as numerous cinema enthusiasts.
Prior to the screening, a photo exhibition dedicated to Turkmenistan’s 2026 motto - “Independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan - homeland of purposeful Winged Horses” - was organized at the cultural center.
The Days of Turkmen Cinema in Ankara became a significant contribution to strengthening friendly and historically fraternal ties between the Turkmen and Turkish peoples, expanding cultural exchange, and promoting Turkmenistan’s rich cultural heritage.
