On February 25, 2026 the MFA of Turkmenistan hosted the successive meeting of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between Turkmenistan and the United Nations in the hybrid format.
The meeting was attended by the leadership and staff members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads and representatives of some ministries and sectoral agencies of the country, the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, as well as chiefs and representatives of UN agencies.
The event focused on the outcomes of joint activities in 2025, while also outlining priority areas for cooperation and synchronized work plans for 2026.
During the meeting, participants reviewed key milestones in the implementation of the Cooperation Framework and explored opportunities for further engagement between Turkmenistan and the UN. Additionally, they examined the results of the Common Country Analysis (CCA), which serves as the analytical foundation for program planning and assessing progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan M.Byashimova noted that the Cooperation Framework Programme is a key strategic document that defines the priorities of interaction between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN system.
It was emphasized that the Cooperation Framework Programme establishes a solid and long-term foundation for partnership with the UN and its agencies, strengthening the country’s position at both regional and global levels. Within the framework of the UN Day celebration in October 2025, the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030 was signed.
The Turkmen side stated that the International Forum in Ashgabat, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality, and the International Day of Neutrality, became the key joint endeavor.
As noted, Turkmenistan’s future cooperation with the UN and its member states will be closely aligned with the national priorities presented at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The focus remains on peace, environmental issues, social progress and strengthening international partnerships.
