The 14th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation is being held in Dushanbe

The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atahallyev, is visiting Dushanbe to participate in the 14th meeting of the the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, which is being held on March 3-4, 2026.

The meeting began on March 3, 2026, and was chaired by the Co-Chairs of the Commission – the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sulaymon Ziyozoda, and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Tangryguly Atahallyev. Representatives of the ministries and agencies of both sides also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that in recent years, relations between the two countries, based on mutual goodwill, have gained qualitatively new dynamics and substance. Regular mutual visits and meetings at the highest and governmental levels contribute to the steady development of fruitful cooperation across all areas.

The implementation of the agreements reached at the 13th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, held in Ashgabat in 2024, was also discussed.

The sides discussed important issues of bilateral relations, in particular, the status and prospects of trade and economic cooperation, increasing mutual trade, expanding cooperation in the areas of transport and communications, energy and water resources, industry and construction, agriculture, education and science, healthcare, medical industry, civil aviation, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, youth policy, and sports, as well as further expanding the contractual and legal framework of mutual relations.

It was noted that trade turnover between the two countries in 2025 amounted to 43.1 million USD, increased by 17.1% compared to 2024. This figure indicates the dynamic growth of economic cooperation between the two states.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding. Confidence was expressed that both sides would continue to expand trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation.

On March 4, the Protocol of the 14th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation was signed.
