On January 23, 2018, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was a meeting with the delegation of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) headed by the President of the Federation Oleg Matytsin, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
The sides discussed the issues of expanding further bilateral cooperation in the field of student sports, and also spoke for the expediency of direct contacts between FISU and the relevant sports structures of Turkmenistan, in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to provide appropriate support in the field of sports diplomacy.
Sharing his impressions of the visit to the Olympic town of Ashgabat O.Matytsin stressed that this complex not only meets international standards, but even surpasses them and, therefore, it is worthy of accepting various international sporting events of the highest level.
The Fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, as well as a series of international forums and sports competitions held in 2017 in Ashgabat show that Turkmenistan is becoming an active player in the international sports system and an attractive partner for international sports cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the sides stressed the importance of continuing the established dialogue for further diversification of fruitful cooperation that meets mutual interests.
