Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation

On March 7, 2018, the fifth meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tatarstan Working Group on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural Cooperation was held in Ashgabat. Heads and representatives of leading ministries, industry departments and enterprises of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan took part in it.

The meeting was chaired from Turkmen side by the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan B. Bazarov, from the Tatarstan side by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation A. Karimov.

At the beginning of the meeting, the participants summed up the implementation of the decisions of the fourth meeting of the Working Group and noted that a large part of them was implemented.

During the meeting, promising directions for further expansion and deepening of trade and economic relations were identified. In particular, the sides discussed the possibilities of increasing export and import operations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan and expansion of goods and services supplied to Turkmen markets, as well as opportunities to provide the markets of the Republic of Tatarstan with goods from Turkmenistan. The sides also noted the importance of expanding cooperation in the oil and gas, industrial and agricultural sectors, in the field of health and medical industry, as well as environmental protection.

Speaking about cultural and humanitarian relations, the sides stressed that they support the deepening of relations between the two countries in the spheres of education, science, sport and tourism. Accordingly, issues of holding Days of Culture of the two countries, joint cultural events and international festivals were considered.

Following the results of the fifth meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tatarstan Working Group on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural Cooperation, a protocol was signed and a decision was taken to hold the sixth meeting of the group in 2019 in the city of Kazan.
