On July 10-13, 2018, the delegation of Turkmenistan held meetings and negotiations in Beijing during which the aspects of cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed.
The working visit was organized within the framework of the fulfillment of the President's instructions on attracting foreign investments into the country's agro-industrial complex, increasing the export of agricultural products and intensifying the partnership.
On the first day of the visit, the Turkmen delegation held meetings at the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, where an exchange of views on the issues of turkmen cotton and its processing products was held. The prospects of investment exchange, as well as increasing the quota of the PRC for export of cotton products from Turkmenistan, including cotton lint, were discussed.
During the talks, the head of the Department for Eurasian Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce of China Ma Chi stressed that the Chinese side welcomes the export of agricultural products of Turkmenistan and will support investments of Chinese companies in the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan.
The delegation of Turkmenistan also held talks with Wang Yanguo, Chairman of the China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private sector, which is engaged in supporting domestic exporters and attracting foreign investment in the Chinese economy.
Bilateral negotiations were held with the leadership of the large companies in China - "China textile Corporation Limited", "China National Cotton Group Corporation" and the trade exchange "China National Cotton Exchange". The delegation of Turkmenistan acquainted representatives of the Chinese business community with the production and export potential of the agrarian sector of the economy, investment projects in the sphere of agricultural production, as well as the country's logistical capabilities.
In turn, Chinese companies expressed their desire to actively participate in investment projects in the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan. During the meeting, an agreement was reached on joint work on the introduction of high technologies in the production of agricultural products.
