On October 2, 2017 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to Turkmenistan, carried out at the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Turkmenistan and Russia have close positions on such key issues on the global agenda as the preservation and maintenance of universal peace and stability, countering the threats of international terrorism, extremism, disarmament issues, and the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.
Both countries cooperate effectively in a wide range of areas, including in the trade and economic sphere, energy and transport-communication sectors, as well as in the agro-industrial complex.
Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation note the special importance of continuing traditional humanitarian contacts, including through education, science and applied research, culture and creative exchanges.
As a result of the forthcoming high-level talks, it is envisaged to sign a solid package of bilateral documents aimed at further activating and building up a mutually beneficial partnership in its priority areas.
