On November 20, 2017 the presentation of the book of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road" was held in Winterthur, Swiss Confederation with the participation of representatives of the business circles of Switzerland and Turkmenistan. The event was initiated by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Swiss Confederation and conducted with the organizational support of the of the Joint Chamber of Commerce "Switzerland-CIS/Georgia".
In his introductory speech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Swiss Confederation, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva A. Haljanov noted that one of the main ideas of the book is the comprehension of Turkmenistan in terms of efforts and contribution to the joint prosperity in the region and beyond, and primarily the role of Turkmenistan in the prosperity of the Silk Road.
During the presentation, the multidimensional economic, political, and social significance of the book of the President of Turkmenistan was discussed by the participants of the event. In particular, it was noted that the book describes the significant role of the "Silk Road" in the coexistence of civilizations, the convergence of cultures, respect for the heritage, the desire for socio-economic prosperity, the strengthening of scientific and cultural ties between East and West.
In addition, it was highlighted the issue of the emergence of new trade routes and directions, the role of Turkmenistan, which became an integral part of international transport corridors, the foundations of which were laid back at the time of the Silk Way foundation and are successfully developing to this day.
