The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia held a track cycling competition dedicated to the World Bicycle Day

On June 1, 2018, in Tbilisi Olympic Sports Center the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia with the assistance of Georgian National bicycle federation held the track cycling competition, dedicated to the World Bicycle Day.

Diplomats, accredited in Georgia, representatives of Georgian National bicycle federation, athletes and coaches of Georgia took participation in this event, which was covered by the local media.

Speakers stressed the international significance of the World Bicycle Day, established by the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, with the relevant Resolution of the UN General Assembly. 56 states were the co-authors of this document.

The adoption of this Resolution was a clear testimony of the appreciations of the Community of Nations for the large and comprehensive work carried out in Turkmenistan on the development of sport and the mass physical culture and sports movement, promote the principles of a healthy lifestyle in the society, the formation of an ecological culture and the activation of fruitful cooperation with foreign partners.

Speakers noted that Turkmenistan pays a great attention to the development of cycling. Holding annual massive bicycle rides has become a good tradition in the country. Earlier this year the Amul–Hazar 2018 international bicycle marathon was launched.

At the same time, the merit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov - an active promoter of cycling, an initiator of regular cycling races and cycling holidays, in which the head of state participates personally, was particularly emphasized.

In the end of the competition, dedicated to the World Bicycle Day, winners were awarded with memorable gifts.
