On April 20, 2017, another round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Georgia at the level of deputy foreign ministers were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
During the consultations, the parties analyzed the current state and prospective directions for the further development of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was paid to energy and transport matters.
The sides noted with satisfaction the active dynamics of bilateral cooperation in science, education, culture, tourism and sports. The Georgian side stressed that the holding of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat on September 17-27, 2017, will further strengthen friendship and cooperation between the countries, promote sport and healthy lifestyle.
Noting that in 2017 the two countries mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan, the sides made a number of proposals for holding cultural events in honor of this event.
The sides stressed the importance of holding regular political consultations and noted that due to mutual efforts Turkmen-Georgian relations are aimed at a consistent and dynamic development and access to new forms of cooperation in various directions.
Within the framework of the working visit, the delegation of Turkmenistan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia M. Janelidze.
