On the 10th of June 2019, the 108th Session of the International Labour Conference has started in the Palace of Nations in Geneva. During the plenary session, the addresses of more than 40 heads of states and governments of the ILO Member States are awaited.
During the plenary session, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population will give a speech highlighting the main achievements of the country for the past 25 years of Turkmenistan’s membership in the ILO on following the international obligations in the framework of the ratified and non-ratified ILO Conventions by developing the national legislation and its practical implementation, as well as realizing the Sustainable Development Goals in the country.
Also, the delegation of Turkmenistan will inform about the events carried out in the country that are dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of ILO. Particularly, the speech will be focused on the resolution of the Parliament (Mejlis) of Turkmenistan on joining the ILO Convention #144 on the Tripartite Consultations in regard to International Labour Standards which in turn will provide an input to the global initiative of Directorate General of ILO on future of labour sphere calling the Member States to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Organization and joining its main or leading documents.
Besides, the delegation of Turkmenistan consisting of the representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mary region Trade Union Committee, Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan will participate to the work of the Committee on the Application of Standards, Committee on the Development of Standards and Full Affiliation Committee.
It is envisioned that on the sidelines of the 108th Session, the delegation of Turkmenistan will hold meetings with the high-level representatives of ILO and delegations from other countries with the aim of discussing the issues of developing cooperation in the framework of ILO and consolidated implementation of global initiatives in the sphere of labour.
According to the outcomes of the Conference, the adoption of the “Final Document of the 100th Anniversary of ILO” is envisioned.
