On January 6, 2023, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang in frames of his state visit to China.

Expressing sincere gratitude for the warm welcome, the head of Turkmenistan stressed that he perceives his first state visit to China as an event designed to give a new impetus to the strengthening and development of the traditionally friendly and fraternal dialogue between the two countries, initially built on the principles of equality, mutual respect and goodwill.

The symbolism of the date of January 6 was noted as the day of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, demonstrating commitment to a long-term partnership of a strategic nature.

Over the years, the interstate dialogue has been actively developed and continues to expand steadily for the benefit of the two friendly peoples. In this regard, the head of state stressed the importance of the Joint Declaration on the establishment of strategic partnership relations signed in September 2013 between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China, which brought the traditional long-term cooperation to a qualitatively new level that meets mutual interests.

Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang stressed that the current visit of the head of Turkmenistan is regarded in his country as an important step towards strengthening the friendship of our peoples, a new page in the history of interstate relations. It was emphasized that China is very enthusiastic about the achievements of Turkmenistan on the path of progressive transformations and reforms carried out under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the meeting an exchange of views was held on the prospects for Turkmen-Chinese cooperation, which has an impressive potential for building mutually beneficial ties, taking into account modern realities and opportunities. The successful implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level also contributes to the strengthening and diversification of bilateral partnership.

Developing a constructive political and diplomatic dialogue, Turkmenistan and China cooperate productively in the trade and economic sphere, in such priority areas as the fuel and energy complex, the transport and communications sector, and a number of other spheres. A significant role is given to the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Committee for Cooperation. In this regard, taking into account the huge potential for interaction, a proposal was made to prepare and hold its next meeting.

At the same time, it was noted that Chinese companies are showing great interest in the Turkmen market, where a favorable investment climate has been created. The asset of bilateral business cooperation is the joint implementation of major infrastructure projects being implemented in our country. The area of introduction of advanced technologies is also designated as a promising vector of partnership.

It was emphasized that bilateral ties are organically complemented by effective partnerships within the framework of the UN, other authoritative international and regional organizations, including in the "Central Asia - China" format.

It was noted that China has great respect for the neutral status of our country, which is a significant factor in ensuring peace and stability in the region, and also fully supports the constructive initiatives of the Turkmen side. Steadily following the assumed obligations arising from the status of neutrality, twice confirmed by special Resolutions of the UN General Assembly, Turkmenistan has earned a reputation as a reliable and responsible partner and high authority in the international arena.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang expressed confidence that fruitful interstate relations would continue to develop dynamically for the common good, filled with new specific content.
