On January 28, 2025, a meeting was held at the UN Office at Geneva between the Head of the UN Office at Geneva Tatyana Valovaya and the heads of the diplomatic corps and representative offices of international organizations located in Geneva. The event was also attended by the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office at Geneva Vepa Hajiyev.
During her speech, T.Valovaya briefly outlined the prospects for further cooperation. Having noted the importance of maintaining peace and dialogue, T.Valovaya recalled the significance of collective efforts in strengthening trust between states and emphasized the role of multilateral diplomacy in achieving these goals.
Then, the Permanent Observer of the University for Peace (UPEACE) to the UN David Fernandez Puyana noted the need to maintain peace and trust. In this context, he particularly emphasized Turkmenistan’s contribution to maintaining these values, as evidenced by the proclamation of 2025 by the UN General Assembly, on the initiative of Turkmenistan, as the “International Year of Peace and Trust”.
In his speech, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office at Geneva V.Hajiyev focused on the relevance of the topic of peace and trust. He familiarized the participants in detail with the activities carried out by Turkmenistan in this area, and emphasized the symbolism of the fact that in 2025 the country celebrates the 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality, which is the basis for promoting dialogue, strengthening international cooperation and ensuring sustainable peace.
The meeting participants reaffirmed their commitment to common efforts to maintain peace, trust and stability at the global level.
