In Sochi the talks were held between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin

On November 1, 2016 President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for a visit to the Russian Federation. In Ashgabat International Airport the Head of State was seen off by the officials.

A few hours later the President's plane landed at the International airport of Sochi. The meeting was held at the residence of the President of the Russian Federation "Bocharov creek" located in a forested valley of the same name in the Central district of Sochi.

At the main entrance, the President of Turkmenistan was warmly welcomed by the President of the Russian Federation. Here, in the Fireplace room there was a bilateral meeting at the highest level.

On this occasion, President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the Turkmen leader on the 25th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan, recalling also that next year will mark another significant date - the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Expressing sincere gratitude to his Russian counterpart for the invitation to visit the Russian Federation and the heartfelt welcome, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan and Russia have long-standing, traditionally friendly relations.

As the President said, that, despite the crisis in the global economy, there are positive indicators of the Turkmen-Russian cooperation in trade and economic sphere, where a significant role is given to activities of the joint intergovernmental commission.

Stressing that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of international cooperation in transit transport corridors, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited President Vladimir Putin to visit Turkmenistan to take part in the first Global Conference on Sustainable Transport to be held in Ashgabat on 26-27 November this year under the auspices of the UN. Speaking about the presence of a wide network of transport infrastructure which finds in the Caspian region a truly large-scale nature, the Turkmen leader noted that the participation of the Russian Federation in this representative forum will give an effective boost to the development of transport corridors, not only in Central Asia but on a continental scale.

President of the Russian Federation expressed his sincere gratitude for the kind words and the invitation to visit Turkmenistan, as well as discussed proposals for cooperation at the meeting; President Vladimir Putin noted that the implementation of these ideas will contribute to further strengthening of Russian-Turkmen relations, which were previously laid down in the relevant Treaty.

The sides also exchanged views on issues of regional and global agenda of mutual interest. Turkmenistan and Russia are successfully developing constructive cooperation within the framework of the authoritative international organizations. Russia has consistently supported the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, which plays an important role in ensuring peace, security and prosperity in the region, as well as creative initiatives of Turkmenistan voiced from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly and other representative forums.

Summing up the outcome of the substantive, in-depth talks, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that today's meeting and the reached agreements will give new impetus to the traditionally friendly bilateral cooperation built on principles of strategic partnership and the full-scale program aimed at concrete results. In conclusion the leaders of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation exchanged best wishes to each other and the peoples of the two countries.

 Then the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov headed for the Sochi International airport, from where left home.
