On December 11, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the International Forum on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
Warmly welcoming his Iranian counterpart, the head of state expressed gratitude for accepting the invitation to participate in the International Forum in honor of the International Year of Peace and Trust, International Neutrality Day, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, and for his visit to our country, noting that he views President Masoud Pezeshkian's participation in the high-level forum as a sign of the enormous importance attached to the policy of neutrality implemented by Turkmenistan.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome on Turkmen soil, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized that this Forum will be an important contribution to strengthening the doctrine of peace on a regional and global scale, and, taking this opportunity, warmly congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on International Neutrality Day and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
The results of President Masoud Pezeshkian's current visit will give new impetus to expanding bilateral cooperation, the head of state expressed confidence, noting that Iran is a close neighbor of our country and that the Turkmen and Iranian peoples have maintained fraternal relations throughout history.
As noted, the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of Turkmenistan's important trade and economic partners, and the indicators of recent years are evidence of the consistent expansion of cooperation in this area.
At the same time, the interlocutors noted the existence of significant opportunities for further expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including in such areas as science, education, sports, and tourism.
The fruitful friendly relations established between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as mutually beneficial cooperation, will continue to strengthen, the head of state emphasized, confirming the Turkmen side's readiness to consolidate efforts in this direction.
At the end of the meeting, Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Masoud Pezeshkian expressed confidence that the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Iranian relations will continue to develop successfully for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
