On January 19, 2023, at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, a meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Italian Republic and the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the FAO T.Komekov with the Director General of the organization Mr. Qu Dongyu.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador T. Komekov conveyed greetings on behalf of the Government of Turkmenistan to the Director General, and also emphasized the high appreciation of the activities of the Organization and expressed the intention of Turkmenistan to develop effective cooperation aimed at using world practices in the field of sustainable development of agriculture and improving measures to maintain food security.
In turn, the Director General warmly welcomed the Ambassador and thanked him for his visit. Mr. Qu Dongyu noted the active role of Turkmenistan in international processes aimed at protecting the environment, rational use of natural resources, as well as ensuring food security. The Director General stressed that the leadership of the organization is ready to support any initiatives of Turkmenistan in the framework of cooperation with FAO.
The parties also exchanged views on the development and full implementation of joint projects and programs. A separate topic for discussion was the issue of a project agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and FAO to open an FAO representative office in the country.
In his speech, the General Director asked Ambassador T. Komekov to convey his greetings and appreciation to the esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged best wishes.
